Who is Recovery & Beyond for?

Recovery & Beyond supports patients and families affected by major trauma and serious injury.

This includes people recovering from injury, family members, carers and loved ones who may also need practical or emotional support during recovery.

When can support start?

Support may begin at different stages of recovery.

Some people may benefit from support during hospital treatment or rehabilitation, while others may reach out after returning home or when new challenges arise later in recovery.

Recovery does not follow a straight line, and support needs can change over time.

Do I need to be discharged from hospital first?

No.

Recovery & Beyond aims to support patients and families at different stages of recovery, including during treatment, rehabilitation, returning home and life beyond injury.

Is there a cost for support?

No.

Recovery & Beyond is designed to help patients and families access practical, emotional and specialist support during recovery.

Where external services or specialist providers are involved, we will always help people understand available options.

Can family members get support too?

Yes.

Major trauma affects families and carers as well as the person injured.

We recognise that partners, parents, children and loved ones may need support, guidance or help navigating changing circumstances following serious injury.

What kind of support is available?

Support will depend on individual needs and circumstances.

This may include:

  • Welfare benefits and financial support
  • Emergency funding and practical assistance
  • Emotional and family support
  • Recovery and rehabilitation support
  • Housing and independent living guidance
  • Access to specialist organisations and charities
  • Legal guidance where appropriate
Do I need to know what support I need before contacting you?

No.

Sometimes the hardest part is simply knowing where to start.

You do not need to have all the answers before getting in touch. We can help people understand what support may be available and connect them to the right services.

Do I need a referral?

No.

Patients and families can contact Recovery & Beyond directly.

People may also be introduced through clinical teams, charities, rehabilitation providers or wider partner organisations.

Do I have to use legal support?

No.

There is absolutely no obligation to access legal support.

Where appropriate, Recovery & Beyond may help people understand available options and access specialist legal guidance if needed. People will always be supported to make informed choices based on individual circumstances.

Is Recovery & Beyond independent?

Recovery & Beyond is an independent, not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) focused on supporting patients and families following major trauma and serious injury.

We work alongside clinicians, charities and trusted partner organisations to help people access practical, emotional and specialist support based on individual needs and informed choice.

What if I'm not sure whether you can help?

Please still get in touch.

Even if we are not the right organisation to help directly, we will always try to connect people with appropriate support and services where possible.

How do I contact Recovery & Beyond?

You can contact us by email or through our online enquiry form.

Sometimes, a conversation is the best place to start.
